Poor material for a great toolReview by Sören

I bought this knife earlier this year after I lost my Victorinox knife. The tool has everything you need on the boat and worked really well. I love the detailed thought put into it to enable you to use the knife with just one hand. Unfortunately, the material the knife is made of is apparently not suitable for boating at all. After I took the knife out for the first time - on a J105 and it wasn't wet - I already noticed weird spots on the metal parts and suspected it could be rust, though dismissing the thought as this was a tool for mariners and I didn't even put it into the water.
But now, a few months later, it is certain: The tool started to rust at the first sight of water and by now rust spread across all metal parts into big patches.

The Victorinox I lost proves that this hasn't to be this way. Until I lost it after years taking it out on boats, it didn't show a single sign of rust even though I never rinsed it or did anything but adding some grease to the movable parts once in the years I owned it.

So, greatly designed tool, sadly, made out of poor material that makes it non-suitable for the intended job. (Posted on 8/3/2016)
