Meet Our 2013 Ambassadors

The West Coast Sailing Ambassador Program is back for 2013. This year we are pleased to renew our sponsorships of Hanne Weaver and Christine Neville . Each year we select several sailors who exhibit both talent and a Corinthian spirit in their passion to achieve notable sailing success. The goal is not simply to support great sailors, but to have representatives on the water and in the boat lot at regattas and events, spreading the message about our company. Hanne and Christine are outstanding Laser Radial sailors and represent the values of hard work and dedication, both on and off the water. It will be a busy year for our Ambassadors and we’re excited to support their sailing.

Let's meet out 2013 Ambassadors!

Hanne between racesHanne Weaver is a Laser Radial sailor from Seattle, WA. Over the last few years we've seen her transition from a successful local sailor to a force on the national scene. She's competed in the U.S. Sailing Youth Champs, U.S Women's Champs, Miami OCR, and other national events. This year her goal is to travel to Europe to sail against the very best international sailors and hone her skills.

We recently asked Hanne a few questions about her sailing (and some general questions too!):

Favorite place to sail? Clearwater, Florida. I like seeing the dolphins!

What do you wear when its cold?  I wear lots of clothing - hat, gloves, booties with wool socks, a thick farmer john wet suit, layers of polar fleece, or my thick wet suit top, and sometimes my spray top.

Favorite on the water snack? Cliff bars and Energy Gel gummys.

Off the water activities? I love skiing, especially waist deep powder!

First Album you purchased? Hilary Duff’s Metamorphosis and I still listen to it sometimes.

Christine NevilleChristine Neville is from the San Francisco Bay area and also sails the Laser Radial. A relative newcomer to Laser sailing, Christine has worked hard and already found great success on the racecourse. She's competed in numerous regattas around the country and has taken on the world scene with a great performance at the 2012 Laser Radial Worlds in Boltenhagen, Germany. This year her goals are to get really good at downwind technique and sail a whole regatta without getting passed downwind! We also caught up with Christine to ask her a few questions:

Regatta you're looking forward to most this year? Nationals at Santa Cruz.

Favorite Line? 4mm "Christine-Line". It's my version of Rob-Line. I use a spectra cover over a small spectra core for my Vang and Outhaul.

Cold Weather favorites? Zhik Superwarm top and bottoms, a warm hat and gloves, and neoprene socks.

Off the water hobbies? I used to play Lacrosse and love white water kayaking!

First album purchased? Live by Throwing Cooper

We're excited to have both of these sailors representing us this year and look forward to watching them continue to improve. Follow the action on Facebook and check out our Sponsorships page!
