While many of us have our boats tucked away for warmer weather, February is a busy month for one design sailing. Two of our favorite events happened this month - Miami OCR and the annual Frigid Digit Regatta in Seattle.
Miami OCR is one of North America's premier one design regattas. OCR stands for Olympic Classes Regatta and features classes like the Laser, Laser Radial, 49er and 470. The Miami event was also the debut of the new Olympic multihull class - the Nacra 17. As one of four stops on the ISAF Sailing World Cup tour, the competition was top notch and featured some of the best sailors from around the world. Full results, news, and photos are available on the event website.
Check out a regatta recap from Isabella Bertold on her website.
The Frigid Digit Regatta is a local favorite here in the Pacific Northwest. Hosted annually by the Seattle Laser Fleet, this regatta tends to guarantee chilly weather but great competition! This year the wind gods got the better of things with only one race completed, but it sounds like everyone had a great time. Wish we could have been there this year!
