V-15

The Vanguard 15, or V-15 was designed by Bob Ames to be a simple, durable, one-design sailboat. The simple design, lightweight hull, and well laid out controls make this an easy and enjoyable boat to sail. The fast, planning hull also makes this an ideal boat for double-handed club or team racing.

Hull and Deck

* Shape is tank-tested to plane easily in moderate air (12 knots while effortlessly carrying a wide range of crew weights)
* Made of hand-laid, vacuum-bagged, fiberglass sandwich construction for a light and durable structure
* The stern is wide and flat to give greater stability and control in all wind and sea conditions
* Topside flair provides static stability
* Jibsheet leads recessed to eliminate body and gear chafing
* Beveled rails fit the curve of your legs
* Self-bailing cockpit.

Mast and Sails

* North Sails made from durable, medium tempered 5 oz. Dacron cloth
* Non-tapered, one-piece mast with external halyards is virtually indestructible
* Heavy-duty rigging including oversized shroud adjusters and pins
* Mainsheet bridle for centerline sheeting without the use of a traveler

Blades

* Low daggerboard efficiently opens-up cockpit and eliminates gaskets
* Molded fiberglass kick-up rudder

Racing

The V-15 Class Association sanctions hundreds of events all over the world and also governs the one-design class rules and rule development of the V-15 Class.
